What We Do

The Ridgefield Lions Club is a group of individuals that understands we can accomplish so much more as a group than by ourselves. The Lions motto “We Serve” says much about the club.

The club currently has approximately 80 dedicated men and women in its roster.

The Ridgefield Lions Club is very active and provides many services to the community. Below is just a sample of some charities and fundraisers we do throughout the year.

Charities

Charities are the recipients of our hard-earned funds. Each year the Ridgefield Lions contribute to a variety of local and international charities. Below are various groups the Ridgefield Lions Club contributes to.

  • Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Bank
  • Ridgefield High School Lions Scholarship Program
  • Ridgefield School Sponsor for many activities and programs
    • Sports Teams, Clubs, 4-H Programs including financial assist. at Clark Co. Fair Auction, & other as needed.
  • School Resource Center – support to students and families in need
  • RHS Leos Club – support high school Lions Club
  • Vision Screening within our District and some support to other districts.   Partnership with Salmon Creek Lions
  • Clark County Sight Committee – Provide sight related assistance within Clark Co.
  • Clark County Hearing Committee – Provide hearing assistance within Clark Co.
  • Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop Sponsorship
  • Walk & Knock County wide Food Drive – our Lions Club provides a lead for North County.   Approx. 260,000 of food collected throughout Clark Co. by many groups including Ridgefield Lions.
  • Green Bag Program –  every two month food drive – Lions help sponsor this important drive which is made up of many Lions and other volunteers within our community – last year approx. 40,000 lbs. of food was collected which goes to the local food bank and School Resource Center. 
  • Environment Service Projects;
    • Restoration of wetlands, planting Trees, etc.
  • Support to displace Ukrainian Families within our area and support to donations to Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF)
  • LCIF Support – International Lions Humanitarian Foundation –
    • this part year our club supported:  Ukraine, Puerto RIco Lions Club – building a facility to help meet daily needs of citizens due to disasters, Kentucky – support to tornado victims, etc.
  • Shop with a Cop program – provide toys to needy families at Christmas time
  • Lions Toy Drive – provide toys to needy families through the local Fire Dept. 
  • Lions Provide many other services based community needs – these change on a yearly basis
  • MOTTO:    WE SERVE      “Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion”

Fundraisers

All year long we are involved in fundraising. Below are a few of our larger fundraisers.

  • Lions Food Booth – Eleven days in August – Clark County Fairgrounds
  • Home and Garden Show Food Booth – April – Clark County Fairgrounds
  • Other individual requests for Lions to assist at the Fairgrounds
  • Lions Christmas Tree Project
  • October Festival
  • Sausage Festival
  • Ilani Partnership – volunteering time a 4-6 festivals at  the ilani Resort each year 

Volunteering

Other volunteer opportunities are available through the Ridgefield Lions Club. Below are a few examples of how our dedicated volunteers make a difference in the community.

Volunteer opportunities are generally tied to charities, but can include just about anything that happens in the community and beyond.   Lions have a tendency to be not only great volunteers with Lions, but with many organizations or individually.

Below is just a few examples: 

  • Food Drives
  • Toy Drives 
  • Improving Access for those in need to their homes
  • Grape Pruners in the two roundabouts (also help with the harvest of grapes
  • Setting of U.S. Flags for special holidays
  • Working in partnership with many organizations to accomplish many tasks.
